When selecting the right silicone material for medical, industrial, or consumer applications, understanding the difference between liquid and solid silicone rubber is key to performance, processing, and precision.
🔹 Solid Silicone Rubber (HTV)
- One-component, mixed with crosslinkers, catalysts, inhibitors
- Processed via extrusion + high-temperature vulcanization (140–180°C)
- Strong mechanical properties: tensile strength up to 20 MPa, tear strength 60 kN/m
- Higher elongation, better dimensional stability
- Typically opaque; less transparent than LSR
🔹 Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR)
- Two-component, ready for injection molding
- Available in RTV, LTV, HTV curing types
- High transparency, faster cure, ideal for complex geometries
- Lower mechanical strength but higher rebound and softness
- Excellent for rapid prototyping & automated production
Both materials are inherently non-toxic, biocompatible, and eco-friendly, offering outstanding resistance to temperature, aging, and chemicals.
