When selecting the right silicone material for medical, industrial, or consumer applications, understanding the difference between liquid and solid silicone rubber is key to performance, processing, and precision.

🔹 Solid Silicone Rubber (HTV)

  • One-component, mixed with crosslinkers, catalysts, inhibitors
  • Processed via extrusion + high-temperature vulcanization (140–180°C)
  • Strong mechanical properties: tensile strength up to 20 MPa, tear strength 60 kN/m
  • Higher elongation, better dimensional stability
  • Typically opaque; less transparent than LSR

🔹 Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR)

  • Two-component, ready for injection molding
  • Available in RTV, LTV, HTV curing types
  • High transparency, faster cure, ideal for complex geometries
  • Lower mechanical strength but higher rebound and softness
  • Excellent for rapid prototyping & automated production
